Marvellous ways to give your Bristol wedding a metallic makeover

Add a bit of bling to go with your new ring in 2016, with metallics, glitter and sparkles set to take centre stage this year, as SoBristolWeddings takes a look at some simple ways to make your wedding shine.

Metallic colours are set to sweep the country in 2016, proving to be a popular theme for weddings this year, with decorations, accessories, cakes, and even dresses paying homage to the trend.

From sparkling stationery and glittering grooms, to show-stopping centre-pieces and even glitzy shoes, SoBristolWeddings looks at ways to usher one of this year’s top trends into your big day.

Sparkling stationery

Kick off your theme with an invitation that is sure to light up the room, with gold cards, copper envelopes and foil stamping set to make your invites pop, while also providing the perfect choice for place names, table numbers and seating plans.

Daring dresses

Metallic is the new black… or white in wedding world, with more and more brides opting out of a traditional white gown and into something a bit jazzier.

While we’re not saying you should wear head-to-toe gold sequins – although it’s your day so if that’s what you want, go for it! – there are plenty of other options for dazzling dresses, with golden-hued petticoats, diamante details or sparkling sequins sure to look breath-taking when catching the light.

Bold bridesmaids

Celebrating your hen do, helping out on the day and planning the little details, bridesmaids really are useful, but this is where they really come in handy! Bridesmaids provide the perfect blank canvas on which to paint your theme, so make it count.

Whether you opt for loud and proud gold dresses or a more understated silvery slate colour, your bridesmaids are sure to look fabulous, with the chance to add shiny shoes, nail varnish and accessories too.

Golden grooms

Don’t forget about the groom on this big day too, with little details such as bronze handkerchiefs, glittery socks and sparkling cufflinks providing a fun way for the groom to be involved, making for a picture-perfect photo shoot too.

What’s more, the groom and his party can look the part, with sophisticated silver slate suits, or deep metallic blues providing the perfect way to inject a shimmer into your wedding, while keeping it a classy.

Dazzling decorations

When it comes to DIY decorations, spray paint is your best friend, with a simple silver, gold or bronze paint job over any old vase, jar, wine bottle, figurines, and even flowers, providing instance glittery goodness.

Candles are a must-have, bonus points if they’re metallic, while fairy lights, bold balloons, streamers and bunting, and glittery table runners will add that little extra shine, with crisp white flowers as centrepieces to perfectly complement the opulent tones.
